A Chance to Observe Archaeologists at Work in Weathersfield!

What: Archaeological dig at the Rev. Dan Foster House, 2656 Weathersfield Center Rd, Weathersfield, VT

When: Saturday, June 11 from 8 am to 4 pm

Parking: behind the barn

Come to watch archaeologists at work

Prior to conducting the upcoming drainage work and repairs to the Dan Foster House of the Weathersfield Historical Society, the Vermont Archaeological Society, led by Secretary of the Interior certified archaeologists, will be doing some statistical shovel tests along the line of the drainage pipe andthey will also dig an excavation unit in or close to the drainage work near the side entrance to the Dan Foster House.

????If you are interested in volunteering to help, please email ellen.clattenburg@gmail.com????

Volunteers should be prepared to spend a bit of time in uncomfortable positions, kneeling, carrying buckets of dirt, and screening. This will not be a big excavation unit, so it will be a bit cramped. Sun block, hats, gloves, bug repellent, and water bottles so that they have it available while they work.
