Puppets in Education

Hello Weathersfield families,

As many of you saw earlier this year in the school newsletter we were planning to have Puppets in Education come in to present to our K-4 students. Unfortunately, due to so many closures, we had to postpone this presentation about a month ago. We, however, are lucky enough that we will still be receiving the grant that we had to fund this program this spring and Puppets in Education will be coming to WS in the Fall! When I have a new date and additional information I will reach out to you all. During this overwhelming time, the Vermont Family Network understands the strong feelings of anxiety our kids and adults are facing. They created a short video for families to share with their children as well as some information and resources. If you have any questions, please go to The Vermont Family Network, reach out to their support staff or feel free to contact me. I hope you all are staying happy and healthy.

Thank you,
Jenna

Hello to all of our friends who had a puppet show scheduled this spring!

I hope everyone is healthy and safe. I also hope everyone is finding time to rest amidst the scramble of figuring out the rest of the school year with remote learning. Hands down to all of you, the wonderful people who keep us grounded in these uncertain times. Thank you!

Sarah’s family filmed an excerpt from Puppets in Education’s brand new Anxiety program for Grades PK-4. You can find it here on the Vermont Family Network’s YouTube page. https://youtu.be/Dwu6jbf09Wg

It is a great resource for students, families and teachers. Add this to the remote learning tools and send far and wide. Her second grade son did a great job at directing and as emcee. Below is the copy to send out to families. There are tips, tools and resources in the details of the video, but I included them here as a Word attachment if you would like more content to send out:

The Puppets in Education Team, from Vermont Family Network, has made a "home-edition" (thanks to the Vogelsang-Card family) of the PK-Grade 4 Anxiety Puppet program that you can watch here. The direct link on YouTube can be found here https://youtu.be/Dwu6jbf09Wg

It provides some tips and tools for you and your child to use when worry is feeling big. Watch the clip together, talk about worry, and what tools you can use when it feels big.  For additional mental health resources, visit The Vermont Family Network website.

Much love to our favorite educators and supporters. We miss you all and can’t wait to see you in person.

Warmly,
Karen
