Lots of WS News to Share

I have some fun news to share!

Heather Gokey has been hired as the new lead cook at the Weathersfield School....Hurrah!  Congratulations, Heather!  We already know this is a position you have and will continue to excel in, way to go!

A team of five school employees have been busy interviewing for the new third grade teacher opening.  Stay tuned, we should have an announcement soon!

Looking ahead.....we will be announcing some pretty cool things to end our school year including Step Up Day for the younger students, a Virtual Field Day for K-8, an end of year Car Parade to salute families and students, a Grade 8 Graduation video to be seen on our website, and a Retirement Slideshow to honor and say goodbye to some very dear friends of ours.  Dates, times, and more information is forthcoming!

Wendy Moody is in charge of the food service program during this pandemic and will continue to lead this charge in the summer.  Wendy is looking for volunteers to help with the summer program which will begin on June 22, 2020 and will continue to a specific date in August.  If you would like to help, please email Wendy at

We are gearing up for the fall, the start of the FY 21 school year....yes!  Teachers and paraprofessionals will be busy with inservice training on the following days:

June 10, 2020 - 12:30 to 3:00 pm

June 11, 2020 - 12:30 to 3:00 pm

June 12, 2020 - 12:00 to 3:00 pm

June 15, 2020 - 1:00 to 3:00 pm

June 16, 2020 - 7:30 am to 3:00 pm

June 17, 2020 - 7:30 am to 3:00 pm

June 18, 2020 - 7:30 am to 3:00 pm

June 19, 2020 - time to be announced

I have added our new hires to this email because they are welcome to join us for any or all of these trainings, if they have an interest and are willing to volunteer their time.  The inservice agendas will be released next week.

Yesterday, in the superintendent's email, he mentioned BJ calling families for an appointment to pick up student materials and drop off Chromebooks, library books, instruments, and school materials on June 16, 17 and 18.  It would be easier on BJ if YOU email her for an appointment. Her email is bjesty@wsesu.net    The school will be closed for the summer,  so it's imperative that you make sure to return these items and pick up the many end of the year awards and things teachers have ready, as well as sneakers, sweaters, and other materials left behind.  They will be bagged and ready to hand to you when you pull up to school.  We are trying to make this easy for families by having the pick up and drop off happen simultaneously.

I miss you all,
JeanMarie
